Mud Springs Community

Our community sits on the banks of the Ord River, where the Jaliwang (Barramundi) swims.

We have for the last 12 months been working on developing our Barramundi Farm, and have entered a Memorandum of Understanding with North West Regional Tafe to provide the necessary training in aquaculture to members of our community. This is certificate 1 -4 in aquaculture. Our other partners in the project are RPM Project Management, Seafarms, and the ILC.

In 2019 we are part of a research project with CRCNA to grow Cherubin , out in our ponds. So we are hopeful that we will be producing Cherubin and Barramundi to eat and for sale in the next 12-18 months.

We also are in discussion with Santanol, to manage, grow and produce sandalwood trees on 40 hectares of our land. This also includes clearing land for a community garden to grow fruit and vegetable including bushtucker.

The long term goal for our community is to become economically sustainable by interfacing with the major industries in the North East Kimberley ie. Tourism and Agriculture. Our vision is that every adult on our community is employed by our corporation in full time or part time employment.

If you would like to be involved in our development please do not hesitate to contact us, but best of all book a tour and come and meet us.
